The Nintendo NX still seems to have a wide margin of failure despite being the newest console from the company. This is what game analyst Michael Pachter has stated in his last insights on the device.

There are a few factors that could contribute to this, one of the biggest would be the fact that the Nintendo NX is coming in at a later date compared to its other next-gen console counterparts. This does not mean that the Nintendo NX does not have a fighting chance in the market, as Pachter explicitly estimated that it has a 60 percent chance for success, My Nintendo News reported.

In fact, he had even hinted that the Nintendo NX has a chance of getting 30 million units, similar to how the PS4 fared. A good factor that can boost this is the Nintendo NX’s mobile aspects, which the company has yet to detail.

Pachter has also given his two cents regarding the Nintendo NX’s possible release date. Based solely on predictions and with no internal knowledge of Nintendo’s plans for its newest console, Pachter suggested that fans should not expect to see the console in 2016.

According to Twinfinite, the analyst stated that 2016 may not be the year that the Nintendo NX will debut in the U.S. This speculation is based on how Nintendo has previously released its consoles. That is, in the past, Nintendo had introduced the console in a major gaming event such as the annual E3. From there, development of the console will take up to 18 months before it is released for the public.

However, even Pachter is a little on the fence given the rumours of how some developers already have their hands on the Nintendo NX dev kit. If this were the case, Pachter maintains that it is possible to see the Nintendo NX at an earlier timeline.

This will break the usual practice for Nintendo when it comes to releasing its consoles, but it may also be part of the company’s overall strategy. Other retailers have been more positive about the Nintendo NX, so much so that earlier this year, there have been reports of Nintendo NX preorders already underway.

GameSpot reported on EB Games Australia being one of the retailers to offer preorders on the console. Granted, this was done for the Nintendo fans, as the company claims, but this can also further prove that the Nintendo NX may have a good following once it’s released.
