Nicole Scherzinger took to social media to reveal that she and her rumoured boyfriend Ed Sheeran are no longer a couple. However, the singer reportedly had a funny reaction to the breakup, prompting fans to think she is only joking about the relationship.

In a dubsmash video she shared on her Instagram page, Nicole could be seen singing along to Ed’s hit song “Thinking Out Loud.” The short clip sees her spinning around as she lip syncs to Ed’s song. Nicole captioned her post, “#TotesEmosh (Totally Emotional) that @teddysphotos and I broke up today.” She added the hashtags #OrangeIsntTheNewBlackAnymore, #ScherzyLosesItAfterSheeranBreakUp and #NoMoreSheerzinger. Her post has since received over 28 thousand likes as of this writing. The video also received over one thousand comments from fans who expressed their confusion whether Nicole is being serious about the breakup or being funny.

Reveal says Scherzinger has the “funniest” reaction to a breakup as she reportedly has her wicked sense of humour at play while she sang to Ed’s song. Her Instagram video reportedly is her way of laughing off rumours that she and the British crooner are in a relationship. A couple of Instagram users also noticed this and thought Nicole is just making a joke out of the stories.

One fan also told Nicole she’s got a “great sense of humour” and added "This is sooooo funny @nicolescherzy. That’s why we love you."

It’s believed the pair split because of the 13 year age gap. Ed is 24 and Nicole is 37. However, a source close to Nicole told Mirror that they were never serious about their relationship.

“The age gap was too big for them but they remain on good terms,” the source said in the Mirror report.

A source close to Ed previously told The Sun that he and Nicole went out on a few dates but there was reportedly nothing serious about their relationship. They were in the “early stages of dating” and that Ed has been telling friends and colleagues about it. The friend had also initially said that their relationship “may not develop beyond those dates but they’re definitely tight.”
