Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon will be seen together on a TV show very soon. The show will be based on the Australian novel 'Big Little Lies', which is written by the author Liane Moriarty.

The two world renowned actresses are going to work together for the first time in the small screen. The story, described as a dark comedy, is marked by Moriarty's insightful, poignant and thought-provoking signature writing style. As per earlier reports, the story is set in a small beachside school and features three women protagonists. The twist in the perfectly happy story line is a murder that rocks the quiet lives of these three women, who are mothers as well.

News.com has reported that the novel will be adapted in a TV show with a limited number of episodes. It will be written and directed by David E Kelley, the man behind a string of other hit shows like 'Ally McBeal', 'Boston Legal' and 'Picket Fences'.

After the success of Matthew McConaughey's 'True Detective', TV has been viewed as an attractive venture rather than a step down option for successful movie stars. However, this is not the first time that these actresses will be seen in a TV show as they have already ventured into the small screen with huge success. Witherspoon had been spotted as a guest star in the popular sitcom 'Friends', where she played the role of the spoiled sister of Rachel Green played by Jennifer Aniston.

Kidman had more exposure with TV as she was seen in a couple of Australian shows, such as 'A Country Practice' and 'Five Mile Creek'. She also starred in HBO's TV movie 'Hemingway and Gelhorn'. Since the story revolves around three women, the third actress who will be joining Witherspoon and Kidman in the cast remains a mystery.

Witherspoon had recently declared that she decided to dedicate herself to stories of strong, complicated female characters. In line with her mission came her production venture 'Gone Girl' and 'Wild'. Both movies have won critics' hearts, who are forecasting Oscar nominations for the 38-year-old actress, as told by the source.
