Don’t look now but the Tampa Bay Buccaneers could have a great NFL offseason if they manage to acquire free agent veteran Adrian Peterson. According to latest NFL free agency speculations, the veteran running back could join the Bucs after he had a workout with young quarterback Jameis Winston on Thursday.

George Whitfield, who is Winston’s personal quarterback coach, confirmed on Instagram the workout of his ward with the veteran, who was released by the Minnesota Vikings earlier this offseason. The post showed a picture of Winston, Peterson, Whitfield and Tim Grover, the popular strength and conditioning coach.

ESPN reported on the possibility that Peterson joins the Buccaneers. It stated that Tampa Bay has yet to make a move for the veteran RB this offseason. However, that could change with the recent workout between Peterson and Winston.

Buccaneers head coach Dirk Koetter also admitted in the same report that he will talk with his QB about the workout with Peterson. The interest is at least a start for the Buccaneers and could change their minds about signing the veteran this offseason.

"I've seen Adrian Peterson many times -- one of the best running backs to ever play," Koetter told ESPN. "I'm anxious to talk to Jameis and ask him about how his workouts went."

The Buccaneers are not the first team to be linked to Peterson. Other NFL squads like the Seattle Seahawks, Green Bay Packers, New England Patriots and New York Giants. The Vikings avoided paying Peterson about $18 million for his 2017 salary by letting him go this offseason. Minnesota declined the team option in his contract and Peterson became an unrestricted free agent in March.

Peterson commented via Twitter in early March that the Giants have been “making some interesting moves” this offseason. This led to speculations that New York could chase Peterson in free agency although there have been no offers for Peterson yet.

Peterson going to the Packers is a possibility but there are questions of his fit with Mike McCarthy’s offense in Green Bay. On offense, Aaron Rodgers leads the Packers but their running game could use a boost if they tap Peterson.

Peterson to New England is also one of the most interesting possibilities since the veteran gets to play with champions Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. The latter has been credited in recent years in reviving careers of veterans who are already past their primes.
