Veteran running back Adrian Peterson is still without a team in the 2017 NFL offseason. That could change soon after he visits the New England Patriots, according to latest NFL news over the weekend.

Peterson has been linked to multiple teams this offseason. Aside from the Patriots, other squads reportedly interested are the New York Giants, Seattle Seahawks, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys, among others. Peterson is reportedly meeting with the Patriots on Monday, according to an ESPN report.

The Minnesota Vikings released its long-time starting running back this 2017 offseason. Peterson had a team option in his contract but the Vikings decided to let him go to create some salary cap space.

It’s not known what kind of contract Peterson will demand but it’s likely he chooses a team that has a chance to contend for a Super Bowl title. The Patriots fit the bill being the defending champions and still one of the Super Bowl contenders in the 2017 NFL season.

Recently, Peterson was seen having a workout with young Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston. This led to speculations that Peterson might already have found his next team with the Bucs head coach Dirk Koetter praising the veteran RB.

Peterson to the Giants was also the talk earlier in the 2017 offseason when the running back commented on New York’s offseason moves. “The Giants been making some interesting moves,” Peterson tweeted in mid-February.

All the teams reported to be interested in Peterson could be worried about the running back’s injury history that they have not signed him to a contract yet. It’s also likely that Peterson is demanding a contract similar to his waived contract with the Vikings.

However, going to the Patriots should be appealing to Peterson, who has yet to win an NFL championship in his career. There is also the thought the Patriots under Bill Belichick is an excellent destination for veterans who want to revive their NFL careers and get a chance to contribute to another run at an NFL title. Other veterans’ success story under Belichick with the Patriots is when they signed LeGarrette Blount, Corey Dillion and others.

Peterson, a seven-time NFL Pro Bowler, has 11,747 rushing yards credited to him for his entire career. He saw limited action for the Vikings last season playing just three games. In his last good year in Minnesota in 2015, he had 1,485 rushing yards on 327 carries with 11 touchdowns.
