Brazil National Football team will now have another chance of redeeming their self as the world’s best in football backing on the leadership of their young and talented team captain Neymar. Inspired by the whole nation’s hope, the 24-year-old football sensation led Brazil to secure the semifinals spot of the Olympic tournament with a brilliant performance in the 2-0 quarter-finals win over Colombia on Saturday. He scored a goal and was one of the best players on the field, becoming a scoring threat every time he touches the ball despite being harassed by Colombian players.

Known as the best in football and the home of legends of this game, Brazil is always expected to finish on top, but still has one thing to accomplish: to win the gold medal in the Olympics. Now that the 2016 Olympics is held in Rio and the home crowd’s presence, the Brazil National Football team has greater chance in winning the gold medal this time banking on its young team captain Neymar.

Born Feb. 2, 1992 , Neymar got himself noticed with his skillful type of play, quality of passing and his nose for goal. He started his young career with the Brazilian club Santos in 2003 where he played top flight football and showed signs of greatness that attracted interest from Spanish giant club Barcelona.

Presently considered as one of the finest in the world of football, the 24-year-old superstar will once again try to help Brazil redeem its spot as the world’s best after a series of defeat from the previous tournaments. The team's most recent defeat is its early exit in the 2014 FIFA World Cup that was also held in Brazil where Neymar suffered a back injury.

It was a national drama after the announcement of Neymar being ruled out for the remainder of the tournament and further frustration came when Brazil was defeated by Germany with the score of 7-1 in the semi-finals. Germany later on succeeded to lift the 2012 World Cup.

Brazil will play against Honduras on Wednesday's semifinals at the Maracana Stadium, which will be the team's first game in Rio de Janeiro. The other semi-finals match will be Germany taking on Nigeria in Sao Paulo.
