Google has reportedly approved the use of Huawei’s in-house Kirin application processor to power the 2015 Nexus smartphone, replacing the Nexus 6. Google is rumoured to partner with HTC for the Nexus 8 2014 project and release date of the device is likely happening soon with newly leaked out information suggesting that the powerful Android L tablet was recently certified.

The device certification took place in South Korea, according to G4Games, which added on its report that the fresh development essentially confirmed two things - that HTC One M8 maker, HTC, is building the stock Android tablet and it goes by the internal name Volantis or Flounder.

Also in the latest information, the device model number 0P8210000 re-emerged, which G4Games noted first came into tech consciousness back in June and courtesy of well-known gadget leaker Evan Blass, who is more recognizable with his @evleaks Twitter handler.

Now, the supposed South Korean certification lacked the usual meaty details - specifications and killer features - that Android fans would love to read about but thankfully another leaker, @UpLeaks, entered the picture and claimed that the Nexus 8 is a beastly rival for Apple's iPad Air and iPad Mini.

The engine power that the slate will rely on is NVIDIA's latest 64-bit Tegra processing chip that is paired with 4GB of RAM. This combo will fire up the Nexus 8's very able 8MP rear cam shooter that will work with a 1.6MP front facing camera.

On the connectivity side, near-field communication or NFC is highlighted by @UpLeaks as among the fresh additional features, adding that a cellular Nexus 8 is already in the works with Google and HTC picking out Qualcomm's MDM9x25 as the LTE modem of choice.

The tablet is expected to benefit from premium engineering that will make use of HTC's zero-gap unibody metal chassis finish, which obviously is a rollover from the manufacturing firm's master opus - the One M7 and M8.

Another sure-fire selling point is the 8.9-inch screen profile that led to speculations the tab is coming out of the box with the HTC Nexus 9 branding. The same display panel is said to show off a Retina-busting screen resolution of 2560 x 1600.

However, while the Nexus 8 or 9 will mostly stay true to the Google device tradition of showcasing native Android prowess with high-end components, the usual accessibility or affordability feature seen from its predecessors could be altered a bit.

According to Android Authority, citing to a recent IHS research data as source, the Android L-powered Google Nexus 8 price tag is likely between $300 and $400 on its rumoured Oct/Nov 2014 release date or about a hundred dollar premium from the Nexus 7 2013.
