The Nexus 6 or X on release date will sport a supersized display panel measuring up to 5.9-inch, that is if the Google flagship smartphone will be built around the upcoming Moto X+1.

Droid Life reported last week of a Motorola device that recently passed through some checks by the U.S. telecommunication authorities. While the documents cited did not specifically point to the X+1, an FCC filing on the device seems in line with a Motorola event that is slated on September 4.

According to the same report, two things were revealed by the fresh FCC information. First, the suspect Moto X+1 will be made available to U.S. consumers via AT&T, perhaps during the initial rollout phase.

Second, the next Moto X has a diagonal screen size of 149mm that by estimates from Business Insider will result to a colossal phone viewer at 5.9-inch or nearing the smallest tablets around with 7-inch front panel.

However, Droid Life has clarified that the 149mm mentioned in the FCC filing likely covers the entire front panel profile and not only the actual screen. That would mean the Moto X+1 screen could remain at 5.2-inch as earlier reported. Nonetheless, the device will stay within the phablet sphere even at the mentioned display dimension.

This will mark Google's entry to the rapidly rising hybrid smartphone market if indeed the Moto X+1 is later repurposed as the Nexus 6 or the Nexus X as some reports claim the stock Android device will be called.

Going by the recent reports, the X+1 is specced up from the mid-range Moto X, this time likely boasting of a quad-core Snapdragon 805 chip that steams roll at top-speed of 2.7GHz that is paired with 3GB of RAM.

The handset will also get a 13MP rear shooter and a starting storage configuration of 32GB with no provision for extra memory, which is aligned with its eventual transformation as the Nexus 6 or X.

While the Moto X+1 will run the latest KitKat 4.4.4, its Nexus 6/X cousin is more likely to debut the Android L that Google has introduced during the I/O Developers Conference last June. The latest developments suggest this soon-to-come Android is build 5.0 and will take the name Lemon Meringue Pie or LMP.

Release date of the Moto X+1 is around late September or early October whereas the Nexus 6 or X is expected to hit the Google Play Store any time before or within November 2014.
