It's all but confirmed that Google plans a same-day announcement of the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9, both powered by Android L, with the simultaneous release date likely to happen very soon.

This week two indicators somehow defined the great things to happen to the Android world over the next few weeks or even days.

First to excite is Google's latest move of fixing an issue bugging Nexus 5 users for quite some time. According to Android Police, the device's software will get an update soon, presumably packed with Android L, to address a long-standing complaint about the Nexus 5 battery.

So after the mobile phone gets to chew down the next Android version, its battery drain is expected to become history, the same report said as listed on Google's AOSP issue tracker. Of course, this is only one of the bugs that Android L aims to eliminate once it assumes official status.

With the development, Google appears to be closing the books on Nexus 5 and segues to its sequel - the Nexus 6. That points to a touchdown that surely will take place very soon.

But before that grand occasion, Google is reportedly gearing up for an announcement on October 16 that will unveil the Nexus 6 and the Nexus 9. The latter, according to 9to5Google just got the much-awaited confirmation from its maker - HTC of Taiwan.

Manufacturing Google's iPad challenger is in part HTC's way of rekindling its commitment to the global tablet market, added the report. It has been ages since the HTC One maker last tussled with other players in the field.

HTC's reentry is viewed as the ramping up of the completion between Google and tablet leader Apple. Along that line, speculations popped out that the next Nexus tab is more of the premium kind that will convince tablet users to look beyond the iPad Air and iPad Mini.

The word on the street paints an iPad-worthy build for the Nexus 9, housed in unibody and metallic casing.

However, the latest leaked information indicates that HTC has opted to used plastic material to forge the Nexus 9. To compensate for the slight disappointment, the device will show off top-tier components - bannered by a 64-bit and dual-core Tegra K1 chip made by NVIDIA.

Other superior specs stuffed with the kit are the following: at least 2GB of RAM, a rear cam with 8MP lens and HTC's signature front-firing BoomSound audio blaster.

As mentioned, release date of the Nexus 6 and Nexus 8 could happen at the same time and the general expectation firms up to a Halloween 2014 launch of the two devices on Google Play Store or a couple of weeks after their October 16 intro.
