Google has several Android updates up its sleeves with the Nexus series first in line. Despite expectations about the Android 5.1 and its bug fixing nature, more complaints plagued the series. Here is a rundown of the OTA update links, schedules and problems of Nexus 4, Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 (2012 and 2013 editions) under Android 5.1.

The Android 5.1 has been released with the promise of new features and a range of bug fixes. Here is the list of the OTA update links for corresponding Nexus devices:

Nexus 6

· Android 5.1 LMY47M from Android 5.0.1 LRX22C

Nexus 5

· Android 5.1 LMY47D from Android 5.0.1 LRX22C

· Android 5.1 LMY47D from Android 5.0 LRX21O

Nexus 4

· Android 5.1 LMY47O from Android 5.0.1 LRX22C

Nexus 10

· Android 5.1 LMY47D from Android 5.0.2 LRX22G

Nexus 7 (2012, Wifi-only)

· Android 5.1 LMY47D from Android 5.0.2 LRX22G

Users are advised to be on the lookout for more updates. Nonetheless, some may have to think more into updating as the Android 5.1 series has been plagued with problems. For instance, the Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 users still experience memory leaks. Device owners complain about sluggish performance because of less RAM available than usual. The issue has surfaced back in 2014 under the Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update and it appears Google has not found a way around it yet. Android has yet to fix its memory management capabilities. Inefficiencies have been leading to RAM consumption by apps and processes.

What is even worse is that some Nexus 7 users report about getting bricked devices upon installation. Whereas Google has not yet released final fixes on the issues highlighted, its Android 5.1.1 has been spotted already. In fact, the factory image for the Nexus Player has been issued leading many to believe that other Nexus devices should be in line soon.
