Nexus owners can now expect the Android 5.0 Lollipop to hit their devices. Google confirmed the release on Twitter with the Nexus 4 first in line for the access.

According to Google's post on Twitter: "#AndroidLollipop rollout has started and will soon be available on most #Nexus devices. Dessert is served." Nonetheless, according to a report by 9to5Google, the roll out will happen on Google's primary Nexus lineup such as the Nexus 5, Nexus 7 and Nexus 10. However, it will not roll out to the 3G and LTE versions of the Nexus 5 and Nexus 7.

Fortunately for Nexus 4 owners, a factory image of the Android 5.0 just emerged for the device. According to GSM Arena, the Lollipop is now available via Android Developers. The firmware is based on the build number LRX21T. It took Google two more days before it can role the software to its 2012 LG flagship. Google has not provided additional details for the delay of the Nexus 4 Android 5.0 release.

The LG Nexus 5 along with the Nexus 7 2012 and Nexus 7 2013 have been updated a few days back. The Nexus 10 has also started receiving the firmware.

As promised, the Android 5.0 Lollipop upgrade offers a host of improvements including a redefined interface for more intuitive experience.

Together with the release of the Android 5.0, the company has also launched the Nexus 9 which has been getting praises. According to Know Your Mobile, running Lollipop on the Nexus 9 is an impressive experience showing the "gorgeous" changes. In fact, the site called Apple's latest iOS 8 update relatively sloppy when compared to Google's overhauled OS.

Lollipop has also been commended for the faster response time with interactive performance. The platform comes with ART including a support for 64-bit CPUs. Other manufacturers have yet to follow Google's roll out with Samsung hinting at a Samsung Galaxy S4 release by early 2015.
