Google announced the roll out of the Android 5.0 Lollipop to its Nexus devices. All supported units have access to system images except for Nexus 4. Google promised that the update will be uploaded soon and fortunately it is now available. People can now access the official Nexus 4 Android 5.0 system image.

This means users can proceed with the download despite the over-the-air not available yet. They just need to access to official system image from the company's website according to Ubergizmo. However, choosing to download the system image requires users to complete several things:

-The system image must be flashed manually.

-All backup data and information should be supported and backed up.

-Flashing know-how

Disclaimer: Flashing devices may damage the device unintentionally. Providers of the update cannot be held responsible for what happens to the device after installation.

Google has provided a guide on how people can transition from KitKat to Lollipop even without the over-the-air release. To proceed with flashing, users must reboot their devices to "fastboot mode." Flashing may result to loss of data so back up is emphasized.

For more information about flashing Nexus devices, Google has provided a detailed step by step guide and information. Users are still advised to wait for the over-the-air release.

The Android Lollipop system image is available for the Nexus 5, 9, Nexus 7 WiFi version and Nexus 4. The system images came after Google's announcement over its official Android Twitter account saying: "#AndroidLollipop rollout has started and will soon be available on most #Nexus devices. Dessert is served."

For those unfamiliar yet, the image files refer to archives. For Android Lollipop system images, these come with binary packages that restore supported devices to out-of-the-box or factory states. User who prefer the over-the-air release may have to wait for another week or two before Google finishes the rollout. The company has not provided any details if the Nexus 7 2013 device will be receiving the Android Lollipop but many reports say that people can expect it any time soon.
