A Nexus 10 refresh has been confirmed and it could arrive soon. The N 10 price is dropping, so anticipation of the 2013 refresh is heightened. Late adopters, however, might want to compare the old Nexus full-size tablet to Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1. Both tablets are under $500 in Australia, beating the Apple iPad 4 price by $100.

Size does matter for many cheap Android tablet shoppers. Full-size tablets are not necessarily old news despite the popularity of Nexus 7 and iPad mini. The Nexus 10 and Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 are relatively cheaper tablets. They are among the most attractive Android tablets today.

Nexus 10 vs Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 Price Tags, Specs

In Australia's MobiCity, the Nexus 10 16 GB WiFi price tag is marked $499.95. In contrast, Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 16 GB WiFi costs $459.95.

Google Nexus 10 features a stunning screen display of 2560 x 1600 pixels. Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 fails at 1280 x 800 pixels. Both devices run on dual-core CPU, but the N10 has twice the 1GB of RAM on-board the Samsung tab.

The Nexus 10 also wins in the camera department with a 5MP shooter, as opposed to the Tab 3's 3MP. (But who will point a 10-inch tablet to photo subjects?) Android system tweakers also have more fun with a Google device's pure Android environment, knowing the latest Jelly Bean (or Key Lime Pie) version will arrive to a Google device first.

Samsung, however, is friendlier to extra storage fans than Google. Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 allows users to expand their storage to up to 64GB with a MicroSD. Google, on the other hand, is encouraging users to use Google Drive (free, or for a fee for bigger storage).

The Samsung full-size tablet is a lot lighter than the Google device. The big Galaxy Tab 3 weighs 510 g against the Nexus 10's 603 g. The Tab is also slimmer at 8mm, against the Nexus' 8.9 mm.

Nexus 10 and Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 Not Shabby at All

Google Nexus 10 can easily beat other cheap Android tablets in screen display and CPU-memory combo category. But its Apple-like no extra storage design makes Android tablet shoppers think twice. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 is cheaper by $40 or so, but its screen display cannot compete with the N10.

The cheap Android tablet shoppers will decide based on their own tablet requirements. Budget is a non-issue, at least. It must be noted, too, that both devices were manufactured by Samsung.
