Fans who are waiting for the release of "Winds of Winter" can take comfort in knowing that another book is being released by the author George R. R. Martin. The book "The World of Ice and Fire: The Untold History of Westeros and the Game of Thrones" will be launched on Oct 28, 2014.

The book is the result of many years of hard work. The author, George R. R. Martin, has collaborated with Elio M. Garcia, Jr. and Linda Antonsson. Both the collaborating authors are the founders of the popular fan Web site Westeros.org.

The book will tell the stories leading up to the events in "A Song of Ice and Fire." The events in the book covers the time periods of the Dawn Age, Age of Heroes, Coming of the First Men, arrival of Aegon the Conqueror and Robert Baratheon's rebellion.

Fans of the series will get to read how Aegon the Conqueror will subdue the kingdoms in Westeros. Readers should note that the conquering king was not able to defeat the kingdom of Dorne even with his dragons.

Dorne is expected to feature in a big way in "Game of Thrones" Season 5. Many of the new characters cast for the upcoming season are from Dorne. Doran Martell, Trystan Martell, Nymeria Sand, Tyene Sand and Obara Sand are some of the characters readers can expect to see in the TV series. A recently released sample chapter from "Winds of Winter" featured Arianne Martell.

The history of the Targaryens will also feature in "The World of Ice and Fire." It was Aenar Targaryen who left Valyria, 12 years before its destruction. He settled in the remote island of Dragonstone and made it his home. It was his daughter, Daenys, who saw the coming destruction of their ancient homeland.

"The World of Ice and Fire" will be priced at $30.58 for the hardcover and $24.99 for the eBook version. The book is currently available for pre-order. George R. R. Martin had earlier released "The Wit and Wisdom of Tyrion Lannister." The book is available for $13.05. There is still no official word on the possible launch date for the book "Winds of Winter."
