Last week, Sony silently unveiled the new Xperia Z4 smartphone in Japan. However, the Xperia Z4 does not come with any radical design change and therefore, the device is reportedly designated as an incremental update to the predecessor Xperia Z3. Furthermore, a fresh report states that, the international variant of the Xperia Z4 will be called the Sony Xperia Z3+.

GSM Arena citing an earlier report says, the Sony Xperia Z4 might not be the “flagship device” for 2015. In order to emphasise that point further, the tech giant will reportedly market the Xperia Z4 outside Japan as the Xperia Z3+. This particular information was apparently ferreted out by the credible Russian Website Mobile Telefon from the description of “Sony SCR30 Style Cover Window,” citing support for the “Xperia Z4/Z3+.”

It is worth noting that, the international variant Xperia Z3+ will reportedly flaunt the same configurations as that of the Xperia Z4. Meanwhile, the Sony Xperia Z3+ release date is expected to be in May and the launch would apparently happen in multiple countries, says GSM Arena.

With the same configurations, the Sony Xperia Z3+ will apparently feature the OmniBalance design with 6.9 mm thickness. Other key Xperia Z3+ specifications include a 5.2-inch display packed with 1080p screen resolution. Under the hood, the handset will be powered by a 64-bit octa-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 810) SoC and backed by a solid 3 GB of RAM configuration. On the software front, as expected, the device will run on Android 5.0 Lollipop OS.

When it comes to memory specification, the Xperia Z3+ will reportedly come equipped with 32 GB of in-built storage with microSD card support for further expansion of up to 128 GB. As far as the camera goes, the same 20.7 MP rear-facing unit seen in the predecessor Xperia Z3 will be maintained in the successor as well. However, in addition, the handset will sport a gracious 5 MP front-facing snapper unit.

Lastly, the entire configuration will be held together and powered by a 2,930 mAh battery unit. However, readers should note that, Sony has reportedly cut down the battery capacity of the Xperia Z4/Z3+ by 170 mAh unit when compared to the Xperia Z3, which packs a good 3,100 mAh unit. Nevertheless, the company was forced to cut down the battery capacity in order to develop thinner profile for the Xperia Z4/Z3+, notes Phone Arena.
