Samsung and Verizon teamed up once more to release another version of Samsung Galaxy S5 Android 4.4.4 KitKat update build. People can start checking their phones for the new notification to see if the firmware is already accessible. Similar to other updates, some users may have early access while others may have to wait depending on their network provider and region.

According to Android Geeks, the latest Android 4.4.4 KitKat software has a build number KTU84P.G900VVRU1ANI2. The firmware is available via over-the-air or OTA release. The latest update offers a number of minor tweaks promising better and faster Samsung Galaxy S5 for Verizon users. According to reports, the Android 4.4.4 KitKat may be the final upgrade from the 4.x series as Google has been preparing for the release of the Android 5.0 L.

According to Know Your Mobile, the Android 5.0 L rollout on Samsung devices like Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy S5 may come around December while other sources dispute it in November. Google and Samsung have not released any official announcements about the matter. For those updating to the new Android 4.4.4 Kitkat build, here are some things to expect:

  • Additional tracking components of S-Health including Stress, Sleep, Weight and Coach
  • Emergency Call dialer access support - people can now access the dialer via the Lock Screen. They only need to swipe over the Emergency button.
  • On/Off camera shutter including in the camera settings
  • A number of tweaks and fixes for performance boost

According to Verizon, the update provided will also prepare subscribers to the new VoLTE service of the company. The Android update now includes an Advanced Calling 1.0 option. This will allow people to make native video calls. Other features of the software update include fixes for unread emails display numner, mismatch Caller ID with Contact Info link and Bluetooth headset audio loss. Samsung and Verizon should finish the rollout by the end of September.
