#HabemusPapam, which translates to "we have a pope" from Latin, has quickly gone trending on Twitter moments after the #whitesmoke news reached the social media. Former Argentinian cardinal Jorge Mario "Francesco" Bergoglio, 76, was later announced as the newly elected Holy See. He will be called Pope Francis I, the 266th pope of the Catholics. Twitter concluded Wednesday (3-13-2013) its first ever conclave watch, and the papal Twitter account now has a new shout out.

The quick rise of "Habemus Papam" on worldwide trending topics shows the height of anticipation for papal updates among Catholics. #WhiteSmoke has also been a popular hashtag for those tweeting about the most anticipated update among devout Catholics. Within an hour the Wikipedia page for Pope Francis has been updated.
