While the term “unique” has been used many times in video game history, “Smooth Operator” may just trump other titles in that category through its unusual gameplay mechanics that involve a huge amount of kissing. The game is a cooperative kissing game where players control the tongues of their chosen characters and try to match tongue shapes, as reported by Pocket Gamer.

Beardo Games has apparently been developing “Smooth Operator” for the past year. The game was inspired by the company’s Ludum Dare 27 entry called “Second Base,” which resulted in Beardo Games polishing the game, with plans to bring it to mobile devices.

There will reportedly be 16 unique characters to choose from and they can be paired in any way the players choose, with the exception of two characters who are brothers in the game. Apparently, the game will have three different modes to test the player’s reactions and memory for a much more satisfying challenge. There is “Targets,” which will have the two players execute specific tongue manoeuvres; “Memory,” which will have players repeat lengthy moves; and “Freestyle” for those who want to try some experimental kissing.

More information can be found in the game’s official site, along with the trailer below. Anyone interested in the game should know that there is actually no single player mode as it has been decided that the game won’t be any fun if one is playing by himself or herself.

“Smooth Operator” will be coming to iOS and Android devices this July. Anyone into odd but interesting games may want to give this mobile title a shot, as the mechanics are unique and should make for some fun though possibly awkward situations with friends.
