It seems like there’s nothing the Lego games can’t do these days. After a successful stint with the “Star Wars” licence, the Lego games have shone and have always been a good counterpoint towards the licenced games argument. The announcement of “Lego Dimensions” and its use of multiple franchise series like “Batman,” “Lord of the Rings” and even the recent “Lego Movie” was enough to add more excitement about the new Lego game, and now it appears that even more “Lego Dimensions” sets are coming.

For those unaware, “Lego Dimensions” will be the series’ first foray into the new figurine gaming genre, which started with “Skylanders,” the success of which has since been replicated by “Disney Infinity.” This style of gaming involves buying figurines and having them pop up in the gaming world where players can control them on various missions and objectives.

Like “Skylanders” and “Disney Infinity” before it, there were expected packs that would arrive to increase the replayability of the game. According to Brick Inquire, Walmart had accidentally leaked seven new packs that would be coming to “Lego Dimensions.” Lego and Walmart have since taken them down, though the list of packs are still known.

The packs that were leaked included two team packs that would feature characters from “Scooby-Doo” and the upcoming “Jurassic World,” while the level packs would featured levels from “The Simpsons and “Portal.” The inclusion of Valve’s game is a bit of an odd one, as “Portal” was known for its black humour that wasn’t exactly kid-friendly.

Still, the idea of expanding the Lego worlds with other intellectual properties is an interesting one and opens up enormous playing possibilities, as stated by Game Informer. It’s clear that the Lego brand has had access to many successful franchises, and molding those together could possibly make for some fun gameplay sessions.

“Lego Dimensions” is set to come out later this year on September 27. The starter pack will feature Gandalf from “Lord of the Rings,” Batman from “DC Comics” and Wildstyle from the “Lego Movie.” The game is expected to come out for current-gen consoles like the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Wii u as well as last-gen consoles like the PlayStation 3 and Xbox One.
