With Marvel’s “Jessica Jones” poised to launch on Nov. 20, a new teaser video has emerged featuring actress Krysten Ritter (“Breaking Bad,” “Don’t Trust the B---- In Apartment 23”), who plays the titular character.

The short YouTube clip, titled “Evening Stroll,” features the heroine walking on the streets of Hell’s Kitchen close to midnight. The town is quiet and empty, snow is slowly falling and the Avengers tower is spotted in the distance.

Jessica seems to be in the middle of an investigation. She looks around to check if there is anybody who might witness her next move. Instead of walking up to the fifth floor of a building nearby, Jessica simply jumps up and lands powerfully on the metal fire escape deck.

Jones is known by many names, writes iO9. She debuted in the comic “Alias” created by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Gaydos in November 2001. “Alias” started with Jessica as a private investigator who solved cases in New York. The comic book had 28 issues, some dedicated to slowly unravelling Jessica’s history, including her superhero roots.

Her parents were killed in the same car crash that gave her superhuman powers. The accident involved a chemical spill, and Jessica discovered afterward that she had developed superstrength, the ability to fly and an invulnerability to various threats. She initially hid her superpowers until she saw Spider-Man fighting Sandman.

After “Alias” ended, Bendis and Gaydos then continued the story of Jessica in “The Pulse” in 2004, according to the same iO9 article. Jessica entered into a committed relationship with Luke Cage, whose storyline is also about to be featured on TV soon. Netflix will be airing “Luke Cage,” to be top-billed by Mike Colter (“The Good Wife,” “The Following”), in 13 episodes. He will first be introduced via a recurring role on “Jessica Jones” before he gets his own standalone series. In addition, Jessica’s history reveals that she has spent some time with the Avengers.

It is still uncertain whether the TV show will follow most of the events in the comic, but her powers will certainly be showcased.

The first episode of “Jessica Jones” will be released on Netflix in November 2015, and the series will have a total of 13 episodes. More updates and details on the character are expected soon.
