Fans of the franchise who are eagerly waiting for the release of “Winds of Winter” may find a new video on Valyria interesting. The video has been released by the producers of the TV show “Game of Thrones.” The video (seen below) tells the story of the rise and fall of the ancient kingdom.

Valyria was once a powerful kingdom run by dragon riders. It used to be located east of Westeros, but a cataclysmic event thousands of years ago destroyed the kingdom, and now no ship dares to go close to the “Smoking Seas,” the place where the cataclysmic event occurred.

Many fans have speculated the reason for the fall of Valyria and how that may connect to the current events in the book. “Winds of Winter” may give the fans more hints about where the story is headed and how the final battle between the White Walkers and the other forces of the world will be fought.

The video talks about how Valyria was once a “modest community of shepherds.” Things changed when they discovered dragons in the volcanic area called Fourteen Fires, also known as Fourteen Flames. The large creatures are said to have a “deep-rooted connection” to magic. With the help of dragons, the city of Valyria was built and new weapons were made with “spell-forged steel.”

Fans of the franchise who have read the books may remember that the Valyrians used weapons called Dragonglass, also called Obsidian. The Valyrians called them “frozen fire” and they are the only known weapons to kill the White Walkers immediately. More details about the creatures living beyond the Wall may be revealed in “Winds of Winter.”

The Valyrians expanded their kingdom with the help of the dragons but faced some resistance from the Ghiscari Empire. The dragon riders were able to destroy the capital city of the Ghiscari Empire and secure their dominance of the world.

The Doom of Valyria resulted in only a few Targaryens surviving at Dragonstone. The Targaryens were later able to conquer all of Westeros and rule for many years until King Robert Baratheon’s rebellion overthrew the dynasty. It remains to be seen whether Daenerys will be able to re-establish Targaryen rule in “Winds of Winter.”
