The latest BlackBerry Z3 has recently been launched in Indonesia and India. As a next step, the entry-level BlackBerry Z3 will be launched in South Africa followed by Nigeria. Very soon other countries can expect to see this handset make a landfall. Meanwhile, here is a specification, feature and price comparison between the latest BlackBerry Z3 and the BlackBerry Z10, which was released in the first quarter of 2013.

It is worth noting that, BlackBerry struck a deal with Foxconn, the long-time partner of Apple, to manufacture the latest BlackBerry Z3. Apparently this is their first partnership, says Phone Arena.

Display, Exterior and Size

The BlackBerry Z3 features a 5.0 inches IPS LCD display bundled with 540 x 960 pixels screen resolution. The BlackBerry Z10, on the other hand, comes with a relatively smaller 4.2 inches display but the resolution is better than the Z3 at 768 x 1,280 pixels. The pixel strength of BlackBerry Z3 and Z10 are 220 ppi and 356 ppi respectively.

Similar to other BlackBerry handsets, the BlackBerry Z3 has a solid build. As NDTV puts it, "the Z3 is ridiculously good looking and its construction quality is impeccable." When it comes to the front, BlackBerry has used smooth glass with less bezel space surrounding the display. Notably, the back panel of Z3 is same as the Z10. The BlackBerry Z10 comes with a back panel made of textured plastic that gives the look of a rubberised back. The handset provides good grip and it feels solid and comfortable on the hands.

The thickness and the weight of BlackBerry Z10 are 0.35 inches and 138 g respectively, whereas the BlackBerry Z3 is 0.36 inches thick and weighs 164 g. Hence the Z10 is thinner and lighter than the Z3.

Hardware, Software and Memory

The BlackBerry Z10 is powered by a dual-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus) Krait processor, clocked at 1.5 GHz. Meanwhile, the latest BlackBerry Z3 is powered by a dual-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 400) Krait processor, clocked at 1.2 GHz. While the Z3 handset comes with only 1.5 GB of RAM, the BlackBerry Z10 comes with 2 GB of RAM.

The latest BlackBerry Z3 runs on BlackBerry v10.2.1 OS, while the BlackBerry Z10 runs on BlackBerry 10 OS (upgradable to higher versions).

The BlackBerry Z10 comes with 16 GB of internal storage with microSD slot for expansion up to 64 GB. Whereas the BlackBerry Z3 offers only 8 GB of internal storage with microSD card support for expansion up to 32 GB.

Camera and Battery

The BlackBerry Z10 sports an 8 MP rear-facing camera with LED flash and a 2 MP front-facing camera unit, while the BlackBerry Z3 features a 5 MP rear-facing camera with LED flash and a 1.1 MP front-facing camera unit.

BlackBerry Z3 houses a solid 2500 mAh non-removable battery unit, while the BlackBerry Z10 houses a relatively inferior but user-replaceable 1800 mAh battery unit.

While the BlackBerry Z10 comes in black and white, the latest BlackBerry Z3 comes in black at this point.
