Before then Prime Minister Julia Gillard stepped down from power, she accused former Opposition leader Tony Abbott a misogynist. Now the PM, Mr Abbott was called by an incoming senator, Jacqui Lambie, a political psychopath.

The newbie senator from the Palmer United Party made the remarks at a Radio National interview as a reaction to Mr Abbott parading around his two young and pretty daughters, Frances and Bridget, during the 2013 campaign period.

"I'll be honest about that, because that's a security issue. That really bothers me that you've got those young girls, pretty young girls, running around in front of the camera. I just thought, is your political career more important than your own daughters' security?" Lambie asked.

However, the two young women appear to be enjoying the limelight as they were even prominently seen mingling with the VIPs during the recent visit of Prince William and Kate Middleton to Australia. But Frances recently got unwanted public attention when it was revealed that she got an expensive scholarship at a prestigious art school with just one interview and mainly because she was a politician's daughter, although Mr Abbott insisted she was awarded it based on her merit and art portfolio.

But despite her misgivings about the PM, Lambie, who represents Tasmania, said she would still want to meet Mr Abbott because she has plenty to say to the Coalition leader.

Lambie stressed she and three other Palmer senators who are beginning their term and being courted by Mr Abbott to support the repeal of the carbon tax are not puppets of the mining billionaire-turned-MP.

"All the three senators are exactly the same, they'll be fighting their guts out for their state no matter what and that's just part of the agreement with the party," Lambie said.

Asked to comment on Lambie's remark, the PM avoided controversy and just stated "I intend to deal courteously and respectfully with all of them," referring to the crossbencher senators.
