Nelson Mandela, the global icon was pronounced dead in a statement by South African president Jacob Zuma. One of the world's most revered leaders, Mandela had been suffering from lung infection since last year. The former South African president died at home at 8.50 p.m.

"Mandela, the revered icon of the anti-apartheid struggle in South Africa and one of the towering political figures of the 20th century, has died aged 95. He is now resting ... he is now at peace,'' said President Jacob Zuma on December 6

"Our nation has lost its greatest son. Our people have lost a father. Although we knew that this day would come, nothing can diminish our sense of a profound and enduring loss. His tireless struggle for freedom earned him the respect of the world."

He portrayed Mandela as a leader who "brought South Africans together. All South African flags will be dropped to half-staff until after Mandela's state funeral," directed Zuma.

His Johannesburg residence in the up-market Houghton community had been reconfigured for him to be given intensive care. An internationally admired icon for steering his country serenely into egalitarianism, his health problems had already impelled outpourings of well wishes around the globe.

He had walked free from prison in 1990. After spending nearly three decades in prison Mandela was elected South Africa's first black president and served one term as president after he became the nation's first leader elected in all-race polls in 1994.

There are few more upsetting things in the closet for a Conservative politician than having once called Nelson Mandela a terrorist. It was a phrase that mired the bequest of Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan.

In 2006, David Cameron apologised and deprecated Thatcher's policies, saying she was incorrect to have categorized Mandela's African National Congress as 'terrorists' and to have conflicted sanction against the apartheid South Africa.

In 2008, Mandela had been taken off the US terrorism watch list by President George W Bush.

However, a different story happened on Twitter. Instantly after President Jacob Zuma pronounced Mandela's death, a number of folks refuse to understand the message of Mandela.

One of them was Alexandra Swann whose bio reads: "Former Tory, now UKIP, trainee psychologist, anarcho capitalist, Love freedom hate the state" who started the twitter tirade against late former South African president Nelson Mandela.

Let us have a look what these critics have posted on twitter about the anti-apartheid conqueror and global icon:

@holysmoke Damian I says Mandela did good things but he also condoned violence that equated to terrorism.

"@AlexandralSwann: Mandela is dead. Sympathy for his family but let's not deify one who condoned terrorism" Thatcher's dead and youre a slag — Charlie (@_CharlieJones) December 5, 2013

@_CharlieJones I would debate posh or slag. Mandela ordered and condoned violent attacks against civilians
