“Neighbours” star Melissa Bell is happy with how she looks now, $115,000 worth of surgeries later. The 42-year-old actress revealed she suffered from body dysmorphia and depression since her first husband left her.

Bell, who plays Lucy Robinson in the Aussie soap, admitted that she felt physically unattractive after giving birth to her eldest son, but that’s because her husband left her. That episode had prompted her to begin seeking comfort in plastic surgeries.

“My first husband left me the minute my eldest son Dylan was born. I was still in the hospital and I’d just had a caesarean, so it was quite traumatic. Then you start to think, ‘Am I the problem? Did my marriage break down because of the way I look?’ I guess that’s what triggered me into getting my first operation,” she told Woman’s Day.

She underwent liposuction procedure on her legs at 24, and had two more procedures on her legs. She also had three breast enhancement surgeries, two Botox treatments on her face, human growth hormone injection, and a balloon insertion in her stomach to suppress her hunger.

She has spent a total of $115,000 on her surgeries while battling body dysmorphic disorder, a mental illness that makes people think that their appearance is flawed. She now sports an E-cup bra size and has a more slender physique.

“Once you start the cycle of getting work done, you just think, ‘Oh, this is pretty normal,’” she added. “You almost start to feel a bit trapped by it all, and it gets more risky as you go along.”

She’s over it, though. The Australian beauty has finally accepted her appearance, and has now shunned going under the knife again, saying, “I’m finally happy. I’m comfortable with who I am, what I’ve done and what I’ve got.”

She continued, “I’ve got four beautiful children to look after, so I can’t keep putting myself at risk.”
