NCIS Agents Tim McGee (Sean Murray) and Ned Dorneget (Matt Jones) make their way to Cairo, Egypt in “NCIS” Season 12, episode 23. Cairo is geographically close to Israel, where Ziva David was last seen. However, Glasberg did not give a lot of details about the “familiar faces” that viewers will see.

"It was a shock to me, and I think it will be a shock to the fans," Wickersham told TV Guide, which reported that this death takes place in “NCIS” Season 12, episode 23 (premiering May 5 on CBS). "It's someone that we know and that we're close to," Glasberg said in describing the character who dies in NCIS 12x23. "(This death) will spark the appearance of other familiar faces as well," he added.

Some fans are tweeting their speculation that Agent Dorneget will die in this week’s new episode of “NCIS” Season 12. Other fans are commenting in TV entertainment sites that they hope the CBS show does not bring back Ziva David only to kill her. Speculations will end once "NCIS" Season 12, episode 23 reveals the answers.

Mark Harmon, who plays NCIS Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs, is “enthusiastic” about a big Gibbs moment in the “NCIS” Season 12 finale, according to Glasberg. This moment occurs after someone’s death in the penultimate episode of the season.

The CBS release for “NCIS” Season 12, episode 23 (“The Lost Boys”) includes Matt Jones as a guest star; he is not credited in the synopsis for episode 24 (“Neverland”). Only Mimi Rogers is listed as a guest star in the finale. She plays CIA Officer Joanna Teague.
