With a respectable performance in the current NBA season, the New York Knicks are reportedly looking to improve their line-up and aiming to upgrade their point guard position.

One target for the Knicks is Detroit Pistons’ Brandon Jennings, who recently returned to his team’s line-up after recovering from a left Achilles tendon injury that cost him nearly a year out of the league.

Frank Isola of the New York Daily News stated in an article that the Knicks have interest in “several point guards” and the list includes Jennings.

The Knicks have point guards Jose Calderon and Jerian Grant in their line-up and currently owns a 15-18 win-loss record. The Big Apple team is below the 0.500 mark but the promising play of rookie Kristaps Porzingis and the consistency of star player Carmelo Anthony has put them in a position where they are battling for a postseason slot.

Neither Calderon or Grant are seen as long-term starting PGs for the Knicks and Jennings could be the point guard they need in their “triangle offence.”

Jennings’ current team, the Pistons have played better this season starring starting point guard Reggie Jackson, who earned a long-term extension in Detroit the past offseason. Jackson and not Jennings is seen as the long-term PG in Detroit although head coach Stan Van Gundy stated in interviews that they are willing to try out a backcourt Jackson-Jennings at some point this season.

Jennings, who is a six-year NBA veteran, returned to action against the Knicks on Tuesday and he registered 7 points and 4 assists in 17 minutes played in his first game back since the injury.
