The Detroit Pistons are reportedly interested in trading for Markieff Morris, who has demanded a trade from the Phoenix Suns earlier in the 2015 offseason. The Pistons acquired Markieff’s twin brother, Marcus, this summer and appears to be looking forward to reuniting them in Detroit.

Vincent Ellis, who covers the Pistons for the Detroit Free Press, updated the news on Twitter.

Morris previously requested a trade but has reported to the Suns’ training camp. The NBA has fined the Suns forward US$10,000 (approximately AU$ 13,934) for the comments he made to the Philadelphia Inquirer last August when he demanded a trade from the Suns.

"One thing is for sure, I am not going to be there,” Morris said then but has made-up with the Suns management, at least publicly.

Morris’ frustration with the franchise roots from the fact they traded away his brother last July. The Morris pair signed a combined total of US$52 million (AU$ 72.46M) in the previous offseason with hopes they’d be able to play for one team for the long-term.

Another probable cause of disappointment for Morris is the Phoenix’s aggressive chase of star power forward LaMarcus Aldridge in the 2015 free agency. In the 2014-2015 NBA season, Morris was the starting power forward in all regular season games when he averaged career-highs of 15.3 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists.

The Pistons are currently in the middle of rebuilding mode under head coach/general manager Stan Van Gundy. The core of the team includes point guards Reggie Jackson and Brandon Jennings, big men Aron Baynes, Ersan Ilyasova and Andre Drummond. Marcus Morris, Jodie Meeks and Anthony Tolliver are also pegged to be part of the rotation for the upcoming NBA season.
