Cleveland Cavaliers small forward LeBron James is readying his psyche for the upcoming playoffs. With just seven games remaining in their schedule and number two-seed a few games away from being locked up, James and company cannot help but notice the pairing for the opening round of the post-season.

If the playoffs would start today, James’ Cavaliers (48-27) will be paired up with his former team, the Miami Heat (34-40). While the two-time champion has not faced his former teammates and close friends Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in the playoffs his entire career, he believes it would be an intriguing match-up and would be an added treat to the fans.

“You look at the standings, you see who's two-seven. If we continue to do well, we'll probably face the seven seed and we'll see what happens then. But it will be good for the fans, for sure. And it will be good for me and D-Wade just being two guys that love to compete," James told Cleveland.com on the possibility of facing his former team in the first round.

Nevertheless, the Heat still has it work cut out for them given the proximity of other teams chasing a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The resurgent Brooklyn Nets are just a half-game behind of the Heat and are winner of five straight. The Boston Celtics, Charlotte Hornets and Indiana Pacers are still hoping for some change of fate to sniff the last two spots in the post-season and give some well-deserved experience to their young guys.

The Heat, on the other hand, have been plagued with injuries most notably to newly-extended franchise player Bosh who has been out with a lung problem. The team has been fortunate to land disgruntled former Phoenix Suns guard Goran Dragic and snatch little known Hassan Whiteside from the waiver wire, but the constant changes in the line-up have made it hard for the team to develop any chemistry and consistency.

The Cavaliers have experienced a big resurgence after a dismal start. The team has zoomed to the top of the standings behind a slew of trades netting big man Timofey Mozgov and a pair of wing players in J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert from the New York Knicks.
