After a poor 4-7 start in the 2015-2016 NBA Season, the Houston Rockets have fired Kevin McHale as head coach of the club. McHale, who was with the Texas team the past four years, will be replaced by J.B. Bickerstaff on an interim basis.

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports broke the story via Twitter adding that Chris Finch will be promoted as associate head coach for the Houston squad, which is currently on a four-game losing streak.

The Rockets have played uninspired basketball to open the new NBA season and appears McHale has lost control of the team. Houston started the year with three straight losses before a four-game winning streak. However, the Rockets are struggling again with four straight defeats, all via blowout losses, to the Brooklyn Nets, Denver Nuggets, Dallas Mavericks and Boston Celtics. Three of the last four losses have come at home.

The blame on the Rockets’ struggles early this season is not all on McHale however. Franchise player James Harden is averaging 27.3 points per game but shoots at an inefficient clip at 37.2% from the field and 26.2% from the three-point area, both down from last year’s numbers when he was an MVP candidate.

Harden’s backcourt partner, Ty Lawson, who was acquired by the Rockets in an offseason trade with the Denver Nuggets, has also failed to adjust to Houston’s system averaging just 8.9 points, 5.6 assists and 2.5 turnovers per game.

The Rockets also had to deal with injuries to Dwight Howard, Terrence Jones, Donatas Motiejunas and Patrick Beverley early in the season.
