Lebron James will return with the Cleveland Cavaliers next season after agreeing to a two-year deal with hopes of bringing the Cavs back to the NBA Finals and fulfilling his promise of getting a major title for his hometown. The four-time MVP has reportedly agreed to a deal worth over $47 million with a player option for the second year according to reports of Sports24.co via the Cleveland Plain Dealer’s website.

James opted out of his contract only to play again for the Cavs next season with another player option in the second year of the deal. The two-time NBA champion will get $22.97 million for the next season followed by a player option worth $24 million for the 2016-2017 season as per reports of ESPN’s Chris Boussard. Jame’s decision to decline his player option this summer was financially patterned to gain additional money giving him an extra $1.4 million on his new contract with the Cavs. It was also a clear indication that the 30-year-old forward will re-enter free agency next summer to get more money once the NBA’s new TV contract kicks in as per Bleacher Report.

While the basketball superstar never entertained any meeting from other teams during the free agency period, it was expected that he will return to Cleveland for another title run with a healthy Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love, who recently signed a five-year $113 million deal with the team. The Cavaliers also acquired veteran point guard Mo Williams reuniting him with James. Cleveland is also close to signing big-man Tristan Thompson, JR smith, and Matthew Dellavedova in an attempt to retain the team’s championship roster.

Cleveland is expected to be title contenders again with James back in the saddle. He shouldered a depleted Cavs into the NBA Finals last season only to fall short against Golden State Warriors. James showcased an impressive performance in the NBA Final series with averages of 35.8 points, 13.3 rebounds, and 8.8 assists.
