The special jerseys for the 2017 NBA All-Star game in New Orleans are now available in NBA 2K17, the game developers announced via their Facebook page on Thursday.

Until recently, the 2016 All-Star jerseys were used in the game in match-ups between the stars from the East and West. While several users had previously uploaded customised jerseys, 2K Sports and NBA took the initiative to launch the official jerseys on Thursday.

NBA 2K announced the following on their Facebook page: "The NBA All-Star jerseys were announced and now they're in NBA 2K17! Pick them up and remember to vote for your favourite player using #NBAVote!"

The 2017 NBA All-Star game will be held in New Orleans, Louisiana on Feb. 17. Fans have already begun to cast their vote using the hashtag #NBAVote via various social media platforms besides the NBA's official website. On Thursday, the league announced the first fan returns of the ballot which had Cleveland Cavaliers stars LeBron James and Kyrie Irving lead all players.

NBA 2K17 launches All-Star tournament

Meanwhile, 2K Sports also launched the NBA 2K17 All-Star tournament on New Year’s Eve (watch video below). Similar to last season's NBA 2K16 Road to the Finals format, the tournament will pit Pro-Am teams, formed by various online players, against each other in a series of events. The triumphant team would receive a package of US$250,000 (AU$341,000) besides a trip to the NBA All-Star Game at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans.

“NBA 2K16 Road to the Finals proved that our fans have an appetite for competitive gaming, and we are excited to deliver another opportunity for Pro-Am teams to go head-to-head during the new All-Star Tournament. Thousands of teams participated in our NBA 2K16 Road to the Finals competition, and we expect this tournament to attract great talent and inspire more of the intense action we witnessed in the first," Alfie Brody, vice president of 2K sports, told Forbes via a statement.

The NBA 2K17 All-Star tournament is open for participation for gamers from the United States and Canada only. There will be a five-day series beginning Jan. 28 between the teams that have already qualified.
