It looks like the critically acclaimed “Helldivers” will no longer be a PlayStation exclusive, as developer Arrowhead Studios will be bringing its top-down shooter to PC this December through Steam. The game will include all of the features seen in the PlayStation versions, though it wasn’t made clear if it will come with all of the previously released downloadable content (DLC).

Interestingly enough, Gematsu pointed out that this would be the first game on Steam that will be published by PlayStation Mobile Inc., which is no surprise, since the title is a Sony exclusive. No specific reasons were given as to why the game was ported over to the PC, but it does give it a wider audience.

“Helldivers” has been described as a hardcore twin-stick shooter, which is focused on co-op gameplay. Players can team up with their friends locally or online as they take on numerous enemies ranging from aliens, giant insects and killer robots.

One reason why the game is difficult is the fact that players can accidentally kill their friends. Most co-op games prevent this, but it seems like “Helldivers” relishes in this type of difficulty, as it forces players to work together and think of the best strategies.

The game can also be played in single-player mode for those who would rather play alone. While it is more difficult, it’s still playable and was also praised by critics, so gamers can go at it alone if they really want to.

So far, the game doesn’t seem to have any exclusive features for the PC version, although developer Arrowhead stated that more news about the title will be revealed soon. It’s possible that there will be exclusive content or that the previously available DLC will immediately be part of the package. However, fans would still have to wait for an official announcement.

“Helldivers” will be available on PC via Steam this December, but the price has not yet been announced. The game is also available on the PS4, PS3 and PS Vita in the PlayStation Network, with all versions supporting cross-play. A physical copy of the game was released on the PS4 and included all of the DLCs.
