Around 1,700 people, most of them are tech leaders have showed up on Tuesday to honor David Goldberg, the CEO of SurveyMonkey and husband of Facebook’s second in command's funeral service in California. Apart from his brother-in-law and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, the distinguished tech elites who attended the service were Hewlett-Packard CEO Meg Whitman and PayPal co-founder Max Levchin. Some of Hollywood’s who’s who also attended the service; notably, director George Lucas; actor Ben Affleck; and U2 singer Bono.

47-year-old Goldberg died of severe head trauma in an accident while exercising at a resort in Mexico. Authorities said he was found lying next to a treadmill in a pool of blood.

Sheryl Sandberg, the chief operating officer of Facebook and late Mr. Goldberg’s widow said, “Today we will put the love of my life to rest, but only his body."

The guests flocked at the Stanford Memorial Auditorium to pay tribute as well as for a religious service led by the family’s rabbi, Nat Ezray. While Bono sang his song “One,” in the fond memory of Goldberg. Walt Disney has moved its quarterly earnings report just so that its employees could attend Goldberg's memorial service. Reid Hoffman, the founder of LinkedIn said, “I hope he knew how much he was loved.”

“I married my best friend and we had 11 years together,” she said, calling Mr. Goldberg her “rock.” For her, it was an experience of being “deeply understood, truly loved,” Ms. Sandberg said.

Meanwhile, endless comments poured in a Facebook post by Ms. Sandberg. The White House also written in the memory of Goldberg, saying, “David Goldberg embodied the definition of a real leader - someone who was always looking for ways to empower others.” Both Ms. Sandberg and Mark Zuckerberg responded to it.
