The MTV Video Music Awards of 2012 is probably the most highly-anticipated event of the year apart from the release of "Breaking Dawn Part 2" and "Perks of Being a Wallflower." Now that the night has been over and done here's a quick recap of the night's events along with the full list of winners.

Former flames, Chris Brown and Rihanna, made a shocking move that night with a public smooch. The boys of One Direction never failed to cause screaming fans during their performance.

"We've grown up watching this show and to even be here is an honor," said band member, Niall Horan. In other happenings, Miley Cyrus was seen hugging both Niall and Demi making fans wonder if this was a celebratory hug announcing their relationship.

As for Miley Cyrus, the teen queen rocked the red carpet with her dazzling black floor-length gown and bleached-blonde hair. Singer and songwriter, Katy Perry also managed to make fans squeal with her almost kiss with One Direction cutie, Niall Horan.

"Perks of Being a Wallflower" cast members, Logan Lerman, Emma Watson and Ezra Miller also made it to the prestigious event. Country crooner, Taylor Swift performed a spunkier version of her recent hit single, "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together."
