“Mr Robot” has been green lighted for season 3 and fans have been wondering about what the series has in store next season. The next instalment is expected to see if and how the relationship of Elliot (Rami Malek) and Tyrell (Martin Wallstrom) will change after the latter has shot the lead character. In relation to this, “Mr Robot” creator Sam Esmail has explained the connection between the two men.

In “Mr Robot” season 2, Tyrell has shot Elliot in the chest although he did not really intend it. He told Angela (Portia Doubleday) about what happened but she said hurting Elliot is inevitable.

Although Angela appeared to be okay with the fact that Elliot has been hurt, Tyrell was noticeably scared about what happened. Esmail has explained why he felt so terrified, saying that he really loves Elliot.

He said the interesting thing about the two men is that they have a bond. “That’s what we set up in that first scene, actually the first time they met in the pilot,” Esmail said.

Esmail went on to explain that Tyrell and Elliot are connected on a deep level. The bond between the two characters have been set up during the scene in Coney Island when Tyrell shared Elliot the story of his father and how he does not want to be like him. Elliot feels the same way about his dad.

Both Tyrell and Elliot felt that their fathers were too weak for them. Elliot felt his dad was too weak to fight back against the Evil Corp. “There’s a real bond that formed there,” Esmail said.

The “Mr Robot” creator also shared that Tyrell did not really want to shoot Elliot. Fans can recall that when he shot Elliot in “Mr Robot” season 2, he was literally crying. He really meant it when told Angela that he loved him. He feels he gave Elliot the fulfilment that he’s always been looking for in his life by shooting him.

Another big revelation that “Mr Robot” season 3 might offer is an answer to why Angela chose to join Whiterose’s (BD Wong) side. “I know that people sometimes get frustrated that we leave Angela’s motivations in the dark, but I think that’s what adds to the intrigue of her,” the showrunner told Entertainment Weekly.

Avid viewers know that Elliot and Angela used to be good friends. It will be interesting to see how Elliot would react once he learned about her betrayal.

“Mr Robot” season 2 aired on Showcase in Australia. Official air date for the third season is expected to be announced in the near future.
