Starting Monday Dec. 15, the improved Moto X will be out in the Australian market and will be available in two different styles. The new Moto X is a different breed of smartphone compared to the classic Moto X which was launched last year. The second generation Moto X is much better and much bigger versus its predecessor. The new device uses Android Kitkat 4.4 as its platform along with some interesting apps from Motorola. It has a 5.2-inch 1080p Super AMOLED display, with a front-facing speaker and is equipped with a new 13MP camera with an f/2.25 lens.

Motorola's new flagship device in Australia is powered by Qualcomm's fast quad-core 2.5GHz Snapdragon processor with an Adreno 330GPU. The new Moto X has an average sized battery at 2300mAh which is a slight improvement compared to the classic Moto X's 2200mAh battery. According to review, the battery life can stand a long 30 hours of moderate usage despite its larger screen with higher resolution.

According to Gizmodo, the software that are featured in the device are as follows: the Moto Voice or formerly known as Touchless Display. The add-on allows user to control the phone without the need to touch or to tap. Next is the Moto Assist, a helpful app which recognises when the user shouldn't be bothered like when sleeping or when in a meeting. Another software feature is the Moto Display, which quietly prompts the user up to three notifications without the need to wake up the device. The Moto Actions enables owner to use simple gestures to interact with the Moto X. The feature would activate the device when the user's hand is approaching. Finally, user can simply wave his hand to silence incoming calls or stop alarms with the Moto Display.

Looking back, the Moto X and the Moto 360 were slated for launch sometime in October or November. Apparently the planned release for the Moto X didn't go as expected. The Moto G, which is Motorola's mid-range smartphone has penetrated the Aussie market earlier in October, Ausdroid reports.

The Moto X in bamboo wood grain version is slightly expensive at AU$789. On the other hand, the Moto X in traditional black resin finish is a bit cheaper at AU$749.
