As the debate rages on when really the Nexus 6 release date is, Verizon and Motorola revealed the Droid Turbo unveiling on October 28.

Prior to the press event, five killer specs and features of the Droid Turbo leaked out and picked up by Android Central and while the details were far from confirmed, they show promise of easily besting the Nexus 6.

Robust body build

According to Android Central, the 'other' Motorola flagship is likely one of the toughest smartphone to come out this year thanks to the Kevlar material that will end up as back cover of the device. In a way, the Droid Turbo is 'bullet-proof' as Kevlar is the favoured material in the manufacture of protective vest and helmet used by SWAT members.

And Kevlar on the Droid Turbo will also mean smooth finish for the device.

Limited water resistance feature

The Droid Turbo is able to repel unwanted liquid intrusion though Motorola is very clear that its creation do not share the IP67 certification that came with the Samsung Galaxy S5.

Still, Motorola is confident that the Droid Turbo will surely survive the usual water spills and non-extended exposure to rain water, likely enough to claim a fairly rugged shield that would-be buyers will appreciate.

Gorgeous front panel

Tough as it is, Motorola also made sure that the Droid Turbo is a thing of equal beauty and durability. The 5.2-inch display panel is made of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 that is coated with a metallised glass fibre.

This would mean Motorola is guaranteeing that the Droid Turbo screen is free of dents and scruffs throughout its life cycle.

Unique Motorola phone features

Motorola proudly states that its handsets host near native versions of Android and the Droid Turbo stay true to that claim. However, Motorola is also including features that even pure Android fans have grown to love.

One of them is the sharing of the Turbo screen with the use of the Droid voice command. This function also highlights the Always-On feature that was introduced with the first Moto X in 2013.

Turbo charging capability

Perhaps the most notable feature packed with the Motorola Droid Turbo is its extra-fast recharging capability. When hooked up with the Turbo Charger that is part of the retail package, the device will juice up some eight hours of energy in only 15 minutes of charging.

As mentioned, Verizon and Motorola will unveil the Droid Turbo ahead of its release date on October 28, bannered by the following specs: a 2.7GHz Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal memory, a screen with 2K display resolution on 565ppi, a 21MP main shooter and a whopping 3900mAh battery that promises up to two days of power juice.
