Google is gearing up two of its best Android devices to combat the upcoming iPhone 6, the flagship smartphone HTC and the dominating presence of Samsung Galaxy S4 with the Motorola X Phone and Nexus 5.

Google's ownership of Motorola will finally make a limelight in the smartphone battle and the upcoming new Nexus line is expected to give the company overall advantage against the iOS and Samsung dominance in the market.

Motorola Mobility and Moto X Phone

Even though Motorola is under Google's embrace, the Motorola Mobility division is still having trouble after the decline in U.S. market share, according to comScore's research report. Marketwatch also reported that Motorola Mobility, HTC and LG Electronics suffered a slight decline in market share as of April 2013.

Apple remains top in the U.S. market share, owning 33 per cent, while Samsung is closing in with 22 per cent, higher than its previous market share performance.

Motorola will make a big time shot with Moto X Phone coming this year, but its influence is yet to be seen. Motorola's CEO Dennis Woodside claims that the company will offer a variety of new phones by October, sporting unique new features found in Moto X.

Motorola X Phone is reported to be "self-aware" and "smarter than other mobile devices out there." The phone knows if it's inside your pocket, it senses if the owner is touching it or if the user is running at a certain speed. It is also reported that Moto X Phone will have the "mark of the beast" or an electronic security tattoo to strengthened privacy and protection.

Moto X Phone is rumoured to have the following technical specifications:

  • Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie
  • 4.7 or 4.8 inches of 1080 display
  • Quad-core processor
  • 12MP Exmor camera from Sony
  • 128GB internal storage with microSD card slot
  • 3300 mAh battery

Speculations hint that Moto X Phone is going to be released by October 2013, alongside the Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie

Nexus 5 Will Join Moto X Phone in Android Supremacy

Another weaponry from Google is the Nexus 5 which consists of pure Android UI and expected to have the Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie as well.

Nexus 5 also sports heavy artillery in terms of hardware specifications and is rumoured to join Moto X Phone in the smartphone arena. According to some reports, Nexus 5 will features 5 inches of screen display, 4GB of RAM, 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor and 5000 mAh battery.

However, Google usually sell Nexus devices on a lower price compared to other Android phones. Nexus 5 may have 2GB of RAM and 3000 mAh battery pack instead. Right now, Google hasn't revealed which manufacturer is co-creating the upcoming device and when will it be revealed to the public.

It is possible that both Nexus 5 and Moto X Phone will join the Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie launching event on October and be used as the medium of demonstration of the latest Android OS.
