Google's Android 5.0 Lollipop update is considered the biggest of its kind, but it has yet to finish rolling out on all other devices. Motorola's latest Moto X version appears to be next in line, as U.K. users have been notified of its availability.

According to Techno Buffalo, the Lollipop update for U.K. users came more than a month following the release of the software in the United States. As promised, the release comes with improvements from the firmware's Material Design feature.

As with other big Android updates, release will be carried out in stages. This explains why some users may have received the notification already while others still do not. Given that there are no rollout mishaps, the site expects majority of Moto X users in the U.K. should be running Lollipop by Christmas.

For those who have not received a notification, manual checking is always an option. To do this, go to Settings, click on "About Phone" and then choose "System Updates." If Lollipop is already available, users only need to tap on the update, download and install it. If it is not available, then people may give it a few days more.

BGR also reports that the second generation Moto X device in India has also been in line for the Android 5.0 Lollipop update. Similar to other Motorola handsets, Lollipop will bring a number of functionality and design improvements.

According to BGR, Motorola has confirmed that other Motorola handsets will be updated to 5.0 in no time. Some of the things people can expect from the over-the-air release include:

— New user interface

— New battery settings panel

— Improved natural touch screen interactions

— Material Design with new typography, widgets and colors.

The Android 5.0 Lollipop update also offers new lock screen notifications allowing people to control their phone settings better. They can dismiss notifications for later reference without unlocking the screen. Other advanced features include "Interruption" and "Downtime" settings. This allows users to pick contacts and notifications that will show up at specific times.

Motorola may still be completing the 5.0 release, but Google has new patches for OEMs already: the 5.0.1 and the 5.0.2 updates. There are no details yet on whether Motorola will be on board to bring the new patches to its handsets.
