Moto G4 Plus is the latest budget smartphone from Lenovo. It is equipped with impressive specifications and reasonable price tag. The Google Nexus 5X, an upper midrange smartphone from LG, that was launched in October last year is now available with discounted price tag. Here is a comparison between the two smartphones on the basis of their specs, features and price.

Design and Display

The Moto G4 Plus has a metallic frame around its edges and its rear panel has a rubberized texture. It measures 153 x 76.6 x 9.8 mm and weighs 155 grams. It comes in color choices like Black and White. The appeal of the Moto G4 Plus can be customized by using the Moto Maker tool.

The LG Nexus 5X has a polycarbonate body that measures 147 x 72.6 x 7.9 mm and it weight is 136 grams. It comes in three colour options such as carbon, quartz and ice.

The Moto G4 Plus is packed with a 5.5-inch full HD IPS LCD screen. It offers a pixel density of 401 ppi and a screen-to-body ratio of 71.2 percent. The 5.2-inch IPS LCD screen of LG Nexus 5X also supports full HD resolution along with a pixel density of 423 ppi. It offers a screen-to-body ratio of 70.2 percent. Both the displays are protected by Gorilla Glass 3.

Chipset, RAM and Storage

The Moto G4 Plus is powered by Snapdragon 617 chipset. The smartphone comes in 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB storage options that respectively feature 2 GB, 3 GB and 4 GB of RAM. The external storage supports up to 128 GB of microSD card.

The LG Nexus 5X is fueled by Snapdragon 808 chipset. The 16 GB and 32 GB models of the smartphone feature 2 GB of RAM. There is no microSD storage on the device.

Camera, Software and Other Features

The Moto G4 Plus has a 16 MP camera that is enabled with features like phase detection and laser autofocus along with dual-LED flash. The camera prowess of Moto G4 Plus is par with that of Nexus 6P and iPhone 6S Plus. It has a selfie shooter of 5 MP.

There is a 12.3 MP camera on LG Nexus 5X that comes with features such as laser autofocus and dual-LED flash. It has a front-facing camera of 5 MP.

Both the smartphones come preloaded with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS. The LG Nexus 5X features a USB Type-C port whereas the G4 Plus has a standard microUSB 2.0 port. The Moto G4 Plus and LG Nexus 5X are both equipped with fingerprint scanners.

Battery and Price

The Moto G4 Plus has a battery of 3000 mAh capacity whereas the LG Nexus 5X comes with a smaller 2700 mAh battery. The 16 GB and 32 GB models of Google Nexus 5X are respectively priced at $329 (AU$451) and $349 (AU$479) on Amazon. The 16 GB and 32 GB editions of Moto G4 Plus are priced at 13,499 INR (AU$277) and 14,999 INR (AU$307).
