Any update on Android 6.0 Marshmallow instantaneously goes viral on the Web. The latest piece of news on Marshmallow clearly confirms that Motorola Moto G (2nd Gen) will receive the OS soon.

Motorola’s India support website has posted Android 6.0 update release notes for the Moto G (2nd Gen). A member of the Moto G Reddit forum first posted the information.This indicates that the company will start rolling out the latest version of the Android OS in other markets as well.

Earlier this month, Motorola rolled out the Android v6.0 Moto X Play, followed by the Moto G (3rd Gen) in select markets. This news comes a day after Motorola Moto G Turbo Edition started receiving the Android 6.0 update in India.

In September 2014, the Motorola Moto G (2nd Gen) was launched with Android 4.4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box. The handset received the Android 5.0 Lollipop update in January 2015.

The Moto G (2nd Gen) got patches for Stagefright back in September last year. Now it seems the company has decided to skip Android v5.1 Lollipop and directly upgrade the smartphone to Android 6.0. According to Fone Arena, the Moto G (2nd Gen) 4G will soon get the firmware update.

In the meantime, Motorola Australia and New Zealand support page quietly updated the website and shared the release notes of Android 6.0 upgrade for Motorola Moto G (3rd Gen). The Motorola Global Portal also posted similar release notes on the United States and Canada sites.

The update will bring in multiple new features including Apps standby, App permission, App links, expandable storage, DND (Do Not Disturb), intuitive volume control, Now on Tap and Direct share. Motorola also clarified that it will remove replicating in-built features like Moto Assist, Motorola Migrate and Motorola Alert.
