6-year-old Keisha suffered head injuries, was left to die and then her body was stuffed into a suitcase and set on fire - by her own mother

A maximum of 16 years is too low a sentence for someone who killed their child - that's the resounding emotion in many of the people associated with this case.

From the police detectives who put in hours of unblinking hard work to solve it, to Kristi and Keisha's neighbors, friends and family - to have knocked your daughter unconscious with savage blows to the head, denied her medical help till she died; and then dragged her 5-day-old rotting corpse in a suitcase so that it could be set on fire is simply the worst kind of evil imaginable.

And it wasn't just this, it was years of torture that this little girl suffered at the hands of her mother - from a shoulder bite that she had to be hospitalized for to many other blows that broke her bone - the story of Keisha Weippart is a sad one.

But is Kristi the only mother to have killed her children? Hardly; sometimes a mental illness, sometimes stress and sometime just sheer callousness has caused many a mother to turn killer as apparent in these stories, from 2013 itself. In all these stories, lies a chilling testament of the basal nature of human beings - when in stress, instead of protecting the children, some mothers simply turn killers.
