The bowel and intestines of a mother popped out of her abdomen a few days after giving birth. The woman named Sam Bell from Liphook, U.K., had to wait for 40 minutes for an ambulance to bring her to the hospital.

The hospital cleared the 28-year-old for discharge after giving birth to her daughter Chloe, on March 24. After a few days, a midwife came for a home visit and removed her stitches from the operation, which seemed as if it was a routine intervention to do. After the procedure, she stood up and felt that her jeans were stuck in her abdomen. When she opened her trousers, she saw that her organs had come out. "I just felt this twinge," Ms Bell told the Mirror. “It almost felt like my trousers were stuck to my stomach, so I pulled them open. I looked down and as I did that my wound opened and my bowel and intestines just fell out.”

Despite the excruciating pain, the mother-of-two said that she had to bear it and keep holding her organs manually until an ambulance arrived. The waiting lasted for 40 minutes. It was quite hard because she was trying not to cry but but can’t help it because she is not sure how much else would tumble out from her.

She was admitted at the hospital for four days and had to received a total of 20 surgical staples to ensure that her organs stay in place. Meanwhile, St. Hellier Hospital apologised to Ms Bell. A spokesman said in a statement that they are offering their sincere and full apologies for the seemingly distressing experience. A thorough investigation and complete review was initiated right after the incident happened, he closed.
