An autistic teenager in Mort Street, Blacktown has been rushed to a hospital after he was found chained in his residence. Doctors at Westmead Hospital are checking the boy’s condition as a precautionary measure even though he is not injured, said Blacktown Local Area Command duty officer Inspector Maureen Deagan.

The police refused to talk about the incident, but ninemsn reports that the 16-year-old boy might have been chained to a furniture inside the house. “The inquiry continues and police will speak with the boy’s mother and relevant agencies,” Deagan said.

According to a New South Wales (NSW) Police Force spokesman, concerns were raised for the welfare of the teenager at around noon and police from Blacktown Local Area Command were called. The members of the family spoke with officers later in the afternoon.

A charity worker who takes care of the boy apparently found him in the backroom of the house while the 38-year-old mother of the teenager was away at the shops. While a Westmead Hospital spokeswoman confirmed that the boy was admitted to the hospital, she was unable to provide any information about his condition.

According to a 79-year-old neighbour, this is not the first time there was an incident involving the autistic teenager, The Daily Telegraph reports. The motherwas arrested and taken to Blacktown Police Station where she is assisting with inquiries.

NSW Police Force declared in a statement that officers are investigating the case involving the teenager “allegedly chained to a bed.” The statement says the boy is under observation at the hospital.

The police are urging anyone with information in relation to the incident to call Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000 or via the Crime Stoppers online reporting page: ttps://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au/.
