Boy loves girl. Another boy loves girl too. Girl loves boy plus another boy. Sound familiar?

Of course it does, given that our entertainment industry is crammed to within an inch of its life with a limitless supply of love triangles. It is a talent, really; knowing how to get the audience hooked onto a couple and then upping the curiosity by adding a third person to the equation - And one that our entertainment industry is exceptionally good at.

A is in love with B, but B is in love with C, resulting in wacky hijinks. Alternatively, A and B are both in love with C, who is torn between the two and must make a choice. In the latter case, A and B tend to be Betty and Veronica; in the former, A will usually be a Romantic False Lead or Hopeless Suitor.

Can sometimes lead to A stepping back because They Just Want Their Beloved To Be Happy.

Here is a list of the most agonizing love triangles that cost its audience many a sleepless night:

Bella- Edward - Jacob

Even as Bella Swan yo-yoed between the affections of the supernatural population of Forks; Teams Edward and Jacob quickly snapped into place, each lustily rooting their candidate for the win. It took Bella the better part of three movies to choose between friendly neighborhood vampire Edward and werewolf-next-door Jacob - A choice made all the more complicated by Taylor Lautner's distracting knack of not keeping a shirt on for longer than thirty seconds.

Julia Roberts - Cameron Diaz - Dermot Mulroney

Two best friends who were made for each other. Or at least so Julia Roberts thought; until Cameron Diaz entered the scene, took over her Mr. Right and before you knew it, they were ready to be united in holy matrimony. All of a sudden, Julia Roberts was a guest at her Best Friend's Wedding and she made it a part of her bridesmaid duties to stop the wedding. The last part of the plan didn't work out so well but she ended up creating one of the most beautiful love triangles that Hollywood has ever seen.

Archie- Veronica - Betty

Blonde or brunette? Brunette or blonde? Decades have passed, the world has changed ten times over and dear ol' Archie is still caught in the same tug of war between Daddy's princess Veronica and girl next door Betty. Dilton will probably compete in the Champions League Final before Archie figures out the answer to this decades old dilemma. In all honesty though, we have never been able to figure out the answer to this one either.

Ted - Barney - Robin

They are the thickest of friends and closest of bros. So does it come as any surprise that Ted and Barney's tastes runs to the same things: They both like the same beer, frequent the same pub and when it comes it girls, they both inadvertently fell for Robin. Loyalties were divided and fans quickly picked a side until Robin finally declared Barney as the winner. Ted may have been left watching from the sidelines, but fret not; all will soon be well for him too. Why? Because A. It's a sitcom. B. We are all strive for happy endings. C. Well, it's a sitcom; nothing ever goes wrong in a sitcom.

Think we missed out on the best love triangle of all times?
