The days of "Harry Potter" and "Twilight" are over which means another book turned to film series is bound to replace them. While "Beautiful Creatures" is said to be the next "Twilight" with the boy-meet-girl romance filled in secrecy and magic, "The Mortal Instruments" is said to be a "Harry Potter"-like story with worlds of magic and wonder.

Clare's novel turned movie stars Lily Collins as Clary Fray and Jamie Campbell-Bower as Jace Lightwood. In a world where Clary Fray (Collins) discovers the secret that she is a descendant of a regal line of Shadowhunters, half-angels, she is thrust into a battle between Downworlders and Shadowhunters plus searches the truth behind her existence in the seemingly ordinary world set in Ney York City.

The film also stars Robert Sheeran who plays Simon Lewis, Kevin Zegers who plays Alec Lightwood, Lena Headey who plays Clary Fray's mother, and Jemima West who plays Isabelle Lightwood. Also in the star-studded cast is Kevin Durand who plays Emil Pangborn, Aidan Turner who plays Luke Garroway, Godfrey Gao who plays Magnus Bane, Jonathan Rhys Meyers who plays Valentine Morgenstern, Jared Harris who plays Hodge Starkweather and CCH Pounder who plays Madame Dorothea. Director Harald Zwart leads the film adaptation.

"Mortal Instruments: City of Bones" is the first book out of six series. The film is set for release on August 23, 2013 which is only six months away which is enough for those who have only heard of the books now to catch up on the action.
