The 2013 National League Championship Series between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Los Angeles Dodgers has gotten closer with the Dodgers finally winning Game Three at home to go 1-2 in the series.

Both teams were grounded in the first three innings until the bottom of the fourth when Adrian hit a double to right field, letting Mark Ellis run free to the home plate. After Andre Ethier grounded out, Yasiel Puig got a triple on a line drive, again to right-fielder Carlos Beltran, giving back to Adrian Gonzalez who was waiting on third for the possible RBI.

Hanley Ramirez then sealed Dodger pitcher's Hyun-Jin Ryu's impressive performance with a single for Carl Crawford in the eight inning. Ramirez, who played despite a hairline fracture, no thanks to a Joe Kelly fastball in Game One, showed up in a flak jacket and did not show any signs of losing his driving power.

The Cardinals, on the other hand, failed to support Adam Wainwright on defense, with a couple of mental errors that allowed the Dodgers to score. Mark Ellis hit a curveball to right field, with both Carlos Beltran and Jon Jay chasing after it. But Jay inexplicably held back, allowing the ball to drop, and Ellis was firmly entrenched at second base.

St. Louis' offense also failed to back up an outstanding pitching night by Wainwright who only allowed six hits in in seventh inning and kept the Cardinals alive by himself. The offense were not able to come up with scoring positions after the fifth inning when they had a pair of singles to start off. It was clear that the Cardinals' postseason batting funk was still there as they have only had a series hit total of 13 with a batting average of .180.

The series enters Game Four on Wednesday (Australia time), also at Dodgers Stadium. Game Four will determine if Game Three was just a fluke, or if the Dodgers are finally starting to capitalise on the Cardinals' errors.
