Beauty alone is not enough to win a beauty pageant crown and for the winner of the Miss World, the crown comes with a responsibility and a heart to help others in need. In the Miss World competition, each contestant is judged based on her grace and intelligence and also it is seen if she has all the qualities to represent the Miss World organisation.

"A pretty face is not enough," Brenda Nanyongo, Uganda's beauty competition organiser, said in her recent interview posted on npr.org. "When you open your mouth and you don't make an impact or you don't make sense, then [the crown] is useless."

With a couple of hours to go before the coronation of 2014 Miss World in London, here are the five Miss World from 2009 to 2013 who made a difference and their work reflected the pageant's "Beauty with a Purpose" motto:

Miss World 2013 Megan Young - Philippines

The first Filipina to ever win the Miss World crown and the reigning Miss World 2013 Megan Young, who is co-hosting this year's coronation night, is a TV host and actress in her country. Last year, Young won the crown in Bali, Indonesia, flooring the judges with her beauty, wit and grace. After being crowned Miss World, Young supported philanthropic activities and she travelled around the world to raise money to help the people in need to get proper health and medical care.

Miss World 2012 Yu Wenxia - China

The second Chinese beauty queen to be crowned as Miss World after Zhang Zilin in 2007, Yu Wenxia, helped people in need in South Africa and China. She also travelled to France, Italy and Britain to raise awareness about what's happening in other countries. She left her own mark in the Miss World Organization (MWO).

Miss World 2011 Ivian Sarcos - Venezuela

Even after her reign as Miss World 2011 ended, Venezuelan beauty queen Ivian Sarcos continues to inspire young people, with her charitable works. She continues to support and promote Children's health and well-being around the world.

Miss World 2010 Alexandra Mills - USA

Miss World 2010 Alexandra Mills made a real difference in people's lives. This Miss World best exemplified the "Beauty with a Purpose" motto during her reign. She continued to remain passionate about helping people even after she gave up the crown. She travelled to Philippines, Trinidad & Tabago, Kenya, Korea, Indonesia and China to promote the pageant's charity.

Miss World 2009 Kaiane Aldorino - Gibraltar

Gibraltar-native Kaiane Aldorino, the winner of the coveted crown in 2009, stunned everyone when she emerged as the winner, beating111 beauty queens. After winning the pageant, Aldorino said to the media, "I will try to do the best that I can now that I have opportunity and advantage" and she did not waste the opportunity.
