Last July 27 in the iconic Hunter Valley of the country, Courtney Thorpe who was crowned as Miss World Australia, will represent the land down under in the 64th edition of one of the world's most watch annual event, the Miss World 2014 pageant that will take place in London. Currently, the 2014 Miss World pageant confirmed 77 candidates representing their respective countries from all parts of the world.

A children's book author and stylist, Thorpe is an epitome of a beauty queen as she was the best among 42 lovely contestants from across the country. She displayed grace and poise in the pageant's 4-day competition that includes fitness endurance course, fashion show, top model runway show, talent show and beach beauty photo shoot.

"I am still in shock! It is not every day that you wake up and realise that all your dreams have come true and your whole life has changed. It is a mix of excitement, nerves and happiness," the 24-year-old beauty queen said in an interview with Brisbane Times.

Born in Queensland, the aspiring journalist's victory is the second in a row for the state, with 2013 Miss World Australia Erin Holland. Living the Miss World ethos "Beauty with a Purpose," Thorpe is scheduled to continue the work of the previous winner as she is trying to raise funds and awareness for the organization's various charities and causes.

"For the moment, I am just taking everything as it comes -- I am organising to move in the next few days and I have just also found out that in just a few weeks I will be travelling--to the Aboriginal community of Lilla in the Northern Territory to continue the work that Miss World Australia has been doing there," the Australia belle added. "I am looking forward to the next year as Miss World Australia."

Reigning 2013 Miss World Megan Young from the Philippines will crown her successor on December 14 at ExCel London and will continue her legacy in the Beauty with a Purpose. There are 130 expected participants for this year's competition and the organization is just waiting for other countries to send their candidates for the lineup.
